WHAT is sip & study?
Sip & Study is the newest Espresso Shot column, aimed at fostering critical thinking, curiosity, and community empowerment. In essence, Sip & Study is a learning space for the people — a community classroom where we can grow together.
If you’ve been around long enough, this is essentially a revamp of an old Instagram series I had called “Sip of Theory.” Sip & Study’s scope will be broader, and encompass topics ranging from theory and literature to science and politics.
Each month, we will choose a theme to explore. The letter will begin with a brief introduction to the chosen topic, and then offer links and resources on what to read or watch to learn more. These will include articles, books, PDFs, videos, movies, etc. Finally, the letter will end with action items and next steps, if applicable. Every so often, reading guides/book notes will be posted as well.
—
WHEN will the letters be sent?
Once a month.

WHO writes the letters?
I (Charlotte) will curate the letters based on community input and rigorous research. Occasionally, some of the letters will be guest-written.
If you have a topic you are passionate and knowledgable about that you would like to write on, please send me a message on Instagram!

WHY was this created?
Sip & Study is inspired by projects like Slow Factory, Noname Book Club, The People’s Forum, and The Freedom Archives. In that spirit, I want to create something that bridges my passion for writing, community-building, education, and social movements. Plus, I recently graduated with my MA in Comparative Literature (with a focus on critical and social theory) and want to put that degree to work!
